If used wisely, poisons and potions can be highly beneficial to a PC. The art of making and applying poisons can be of great value while a potion can revitalize an injured PC and perhaps help save the day.

Ingredients

Ingredients are needed to make poisons and potions. The following is a list of ingredients.

Common: These ingredients are easily obtained and are the cheapest of ingredients.

Uncommon: These ingredients may be bit a more difficult to come by and will carry a higher price.

Rare: These ingredients are difficult to obtain and require a good deal of money to purchase.

Very Rare: The ingredients are very difficult to find and require loads of money to obtain.

Poisons

Poisons come in five varieties; weak, moderate, severe, deadly and lethal. Weak poisons can be made by a PC with a Poison score of +1. Moderate poisons can be made with a poison score of +2. Severe with a score of +3, Deadly with a score of +4, and Lethal with a score of +5.

Poisons do damage based on their level with weak doing the least and deadly doing the most. The following chart will outline damage and duration for each type of poison. The ingredients required are enough for a single dose of poison. The GM should decide what the exact ingredients are. The more difficult a poison is to make, the longer it takes as well (multiply the skill level required by 1 hour to determine how much time is required to complete the poison).

Weak (level 1 poison): Damage +1 per minute for 15 minutes. Requires 2 common ingredients.

Moderate (level 2 poison): Damage +2 per minute for 15 minutes. Requires 2 common and 1 uncommon ingredient.

Severe (level 3 poison): Damage +3 per minute for 15 minutes. Requires 2 uncommon and 2 rare ingredient.

Deadly (level 4 poison): Damage +5 per minute for 15 minutes. Requires 3 rare ingredients.

Lethal (level 5 poison): Damage +7 per minute for 15 minutes. Require 3 rare ingredients and 1 very rare ingredient.

A skilled poisoner can apply a poison to any bladed weapon. Once applied, the poisoner rolls 1d6 and adds their poisoning skill to determine the number of times the weapon can successfully poison. Example: Rolgo applies a moderate poison to a sword. Rolgo has a poison skill of +2. Rolgo rolls 1d6 and get an 4. 4 + 2 is 6 so the sword can poison 6 times before the poison is depleted.

Potions

For a list of specific Potions, see the Item Section.

Potions can have a variety of effects. Typically, the stronger the effect of a potion, the more difficult it is to make. Use the following chart to determine the difficulty of potion creation.

The GM should decide what the exact ingredients are. The more difficult a potion is to make, the longer it takes as well (multiply the skill level required by 2 hours to determine how much time is required to complete the potion).

Potions of like types can be used only once in a 24 hour period.

Simple (level 1 potion): Simple potions are easily made and require a potion score of +1. Requires 2 common ingredients.

Easy (level 2 potion): Easy potions require a Potion score of +2. Requires 3 common ingredients.

Moderate (level 3 potion): Moderate potions require a Potion score of +3. Requires 2 common and 1 uncommon ingredient.

Difficult (level 4 potion): Difficult potions require a Potion score of +4. Requires 1 common, 2 uncommon and 1 rare ingredient.

Most Difficult (level 5 potion): Most Difficult potions can only be made with a Potion score of +5. Requires 2 uncommon, 1 rare and 1 very rare ingredient.
