Using Magic

Direct Damage Spells

When using spells that do direct damage (like hitting a target with a Fireball), one should calculate the damage as follows...

Example: Otto decides to strike Ulblub with a fireball. Otto makes his attack roll (2d6 + Wits + Magic). In this case Otto has a Wits score of 2, a Magic score of 2 and rolls 8 for a total score of 12. Ulblub can now defend against the fireball by either a dodge roll (because the attack is direct) or by making a resist magic. Ulblub decides to make a resist magic check (2d6 + Wits + Magic). Ulblub has a Wits score of 2, a Magic score of 2 and rolls a measely 4 for a total score of 8. Ulblub fails to resist.

Otto's fireball has an MoS of +4. The fireball does +1d6 damage. Otto rolls the damage and get s 5. The total damage of the fireball is 9.
